This fall semester of 2024, we are welcoming 32 exchange students, including 7 from our partner institution, the École Polytechnique de Lomé (EPL), part ofthe University of Loméin Togo (a partner of UTBM).
🔎Spotlight on Abla Claudia Blessing ADJAFO!
Abla Claudia Blessing ADJAFO arrived on August 20, 2024, to spend a semester studying computer science at UTBM.
Currently a junior in the Togolese capital, it was our partner university that introduced her to UTBM. Our institution’s reputation and the course offerings that aligned with her career goals led her to choose to study abroad at our university.
Abla Claudia’s trip and stay in France are funded by a scholarship through the IMPACT program, which brings together four institutions: the University of Lomé, UTBM, UTT, and IMT (Albi). Among other activities, this program facilitates student exchanges at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
She has chosen courses on parallel computing and multicore architectures, C++ and Java programming, design with UML, and artificial intelligence. She is also taking a language course and a humanities course titled “Semiology of Image and Sound.”
Most of these subjects are new to her. It took her some time to adjust, but she remains enthusiastic.
This is her first long-term study abroad experience, and she is discovering France for the first time. She is happy to have made new friends.
“This semester gave me the chance to discover French culture and other cultures as well, thanks to the other international students. I especially enjoyed the international dinner in November: I was able to introduce everyone to Djinkoumè, a traditional dish from my home country, and try some new ones myself. Thanks to theWelcome Club!”
What about the future? She hopes to become a computer engineer and work in the field of cybersecurity. After completing her final semester of her bachelor's degree in Lomé, she will go on to pursue a master's degree.
