The University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM) is proud to announce its ranking in the prestigious 2024 Shanghai Subject Ranking (GRAS), published today, in the field of “mechanical engineering,” placing it in the 201–300 range among the world’s top institutions.
This ranking, compiled by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, evaluates higher education institutions worldwide each year based on rigorous and selective criteria, with a particular focus on research impact.
This year, 1,900 higher education and research institutions from 96 countries are included in this highly selective ranking, across 55 scientific disciplines covering the fields of natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, and medical sciences.
The release of the 2024 Shanghai Subject Rankings highlights the global reach of French research, with 83 French institutions represented across 50 scientific disciplines. France thus ranks fourth worldwide in terms of the number of ranked institutions, behind China, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In this context, UTBM stands out as one of the world’s top institutions in “mechanical engineering,” alongside 24 other French institutions. This prestigious ranking recognizes the excellence of its applied research.
Regarding the UTBM's inclusion in the Shanghai thematic ranking, Ghislain MONTAVON, its director, stated:
