In May 2025, UTBM was pleased to welcome two faculty members fromthe University of Sarajevo, a long-standing partner of the Erasmus+ program.
Prof. Adis MUMINOVIĆ and Prof. Muris TORLAK, both from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, were received by Dr. Rija-Nirina RAOELISON and Dr. Mohamed BECHERIF, respectively.
Adis MUMINOVIĆ led several academic and scientific activities during his visit to UTBM from May 5 to 10. Together with Rija-Nirina RAOELISON, he organized an 8-hour training session for doctoral students in the SPIM doctoral school, which was approved as a course in the “Science” category. This provided them with an opportunity to gain a holistic understanding of a contemporary scientific issue in the field of design and additive manufacturing. Titled “Design for Additive Manufacturing: Challenges in Design and Material Integration,” the course was organized into four sessions addressing scientific questions at the heart of current research:
– Design for additive manufacturing.
– Gear design for additive manufacturing.
– 3D scanning in mechanical engineering, with a particular focus on product development and design.
– Measuring gear wear using 3D scanning.
– Artificial intelligence (AI) and additive manufacturing (AM) in the field of product design, development, and manufacturing.
Adis MUMINOVIĆ also led a scientific lecture on the role and prospects of combining AI and additive manufacturing in the field of product design, development, and manufacturing—a new topic that guides his research, the practical aspects of which sparked particular interest among engineering students in the FISA “Mechanical Engineering and Transportation” within the “Mobility and Transportation of the Future” cluster at the Montbéliard campus, during a public lecture titled “AI in Mechanical Design: From Text to 3D CAD Model” as part of a class session for the CP71 course unit “Design Methods and Tools,” co-taught by Prof. Samuel GOMES.

the structure of the University of Sarajevo,
curricula and research projects,
feedback on mobility,
as well as an overview of the natural, cultural, and historical treasures of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Muris TORLAK also spoke about his research in the fields of computational methods, fluid mechanics, and hydraulics.
He has also given lectures on control systems for hydroelectric power plants, which are widely used in Bosnia and Herzegovina for renewable electricity generation.
