UTBM is proud to have been invited this Friday, January 30, to the graduation ceremony of the brand-new École Polytechnique de Lomé – UL, a division ofthe University of Lomé founded in 2022. More than 300 students received their bachelor’s or master’s degrees in four different fields of study: civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and energy, and computer science.
The two master’s programs in computer science are the result of a vibrant and strong partnership between the University of Lomé and UTBM, leading to the awarding of a joint degree.
Congratulations to all the graduates!
Receiving a degree is not just an academic milestone—it is a symbol. It marks the end of a demanding journey and the beginning of another, one in which knowledge becomes responsibility, curiosity, and commitment. Our graduates have successfully navigated different scientific traditions, combined various methods and perspectives, and learned to view technology as a tool in the service of humanity.
We extend our warmest thanks to the Franco-Togolese faculty, whose patience, care, and high standards have guided each student with both kindness and rigor. They exemplify what cooperation between institutions can achieve: creating a space where science thrives on dialogue and cultural diversity.
To our graduates: three virtues can guide you as you move forward on your journey. Openness to others, so that you may listen and collaborate beyond differences. Temperance, so that you may act with restraint and discernment. Humility, so that you may continue to learn and recognize that knowledge is shared. This degree is not an end in itself, but a commitment to put your skills to work for society and those around you.
Long live the partnership between UTBM and the University of Lomé, and long live the curiosity that bridges cultures and generations!
