[Energy is the North Franche-Comté]

It was an honor to welcome Marc Ferracci, Minister of Industry and Energy, to UTBM last week during his visit to northern Franche-Comté to discuss hydrogen.

This decision underscores the key role played by local academic institutions in training future professionals in the sector, as well as in developing the strategic research partnerships we have historically pursued in this area.

Training qualified engineers in the field of energy, including hydrogen, remains a critical challenge. At UTBM, we address this through the “Energy and Electrical Engineering” specialization, both through apprenticeship programs and traditional degree programs. We also address it through the specialized master’s program in “Hydrogen Energy.”

Our research—conducted through partnerships with a wide range of industrial stakeholders—on topics such as heavy-duty mobility, the decarbonization of industry, and infrastructure development (hydrogen transportation, storage, and the development of the hydrogen value chain) positions us as a leader in developing the expertise essential to the deployment of this sector. Tools such as our “Hydrogen Energy” platform play a key role in achieving this goal.

In this regard, UTBM recognizes the importance of its mission in implementing the national strategy, in which northern Franche-Comté plays a central role.
