Organized by the Conference of University Presidents (CPU) and the CNRS, the science communication competition “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” kicks off its 2017 French edition on March 23. The national grand finale will take place in Paris on June 14.
Since 2014, “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” has been challenging doctoral students and recent PhD graduates to:
Explain their research topic to the general public in French, using simple terms and, if necessary, a single slide—all in exactly 3 minutes!
Starting March 23, the 27 university consortia (comprising nearly 200 higher education and research institutions, including all French universities) will select their candidates through competitions open to the public. These 27 doctoral students will then undergo a final selection round, with the semifinals taking place on June 13 in Paris.
Dates to Remember:
March 28, 2017: Second training session offered to candidates selected for the regional finals (at Fabrika Sciences in Besançon)
April 4, 2017 : ComUE Bourgogne Franche-Comté finals (at 6:00 p.m. in Dijon – Amphi AgroSup)
June 2017 : National Finals (date and location to be announced)
September 28, 2017: International Final in Belgium
