The consortium led by Grand Belfort and Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération, which brings together institutional partners (the Region), socio-economic partners (PSA, EDF, Rougeot, Alstom, GE, Faurecia, Wu-do, etc.) as well as public institutions in higher education, research, and innovation (UTBM, University of Franche-Comté), has been selected as the national winner of the “Territoires d’Innovation” call for proposals launched by the General Secretariat for Investment and administered by the Caisse des Dépôts.
The Nord Franche-Comté project, titled “Transformation of an Industrial Region,” is the winner among the 24 projects still in the final selection phase.
As part of this initiative, the region will receive approximately 70 million euros in funding over an 8-year period to support the necessary industrial transition, develop a new hydrogen-focused industrial sector, and transform Northern Franche-Comté into a hub of innovation.
Deeply involved since the project’s inception more than two years ago, UTBM, together with its partners, will carry out about ten key initiatives, including the CRUNCH Building (a flagship building for innovation), the management and coordination of the network of “third places” across northern Franche-Comté, the EDF-UTBM industrial chair on the energy transition in Industry 4.0 and mobility, and more.
