“Engineers in the 21st Century” Series
This book aims to shed light on our understanding of the innovation process through an original approach: the biographies of innovations. The contributors argue that these biographies serve as a means of understanding the origins of innovations by highlighting both the individuals involved in the process and the economic, social, and political conditions in which these innovations emerge. The seven biographies at the heart of this book will take us on a journey through time (from the 15th to the 20th century), across Europe, and through a variety of technical and scientific fields.
