A Case for Innovation: How Can We Innovate with Purpose?
Innovating with Purpose: A Necessity, a Responsibility, a Collective Adventure
In a rapidly changing world, innovation can no longer be solely technological. It must be holistic, ethical, and sustainable, incorporating human, social, and environmental dimensions.
This is the vision championed by the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM) through its advocacy for innovation.
This document emphasizes that innovation cannot be imposed; rather, it is embodied in a collaborative, interdisciplinary dynamic that is open to all.
Innovation Crunch Time: Putting Ideas into Action
At UTBM, this philosophy is embodied in the Innovation Crunch program, of which Innovation Crunch Time is a prime example. Each year, more than 1,500 students immerse themselves in an intense week of creativity and prototyping to address industrial and societal challenges. Cooperation, boldness, and commitment are the key to transforming ideas into concrete solutions.
Why is this approach essential?
Because innovation isn’t just for experts—it’s everyone’s business.
Because impact matters more than technological prowess: innovation means meeting real needs.
Because methodology matters just as much as the idea: testing, failing, learning, and trying again are the keys to success.
