The ERCOS division of the ELLIADD laboratory (E.A. 4661) is very proud to be a partner in the CONTINUUM project (Collaborative Continuity from the Digital to the Human), which was recently selected as part of the EQUIPEX+ call for proposals. This project, coordinated by the CNRS, was rated A+ and is among the 50 projects selected nationwide (32 A+ and 18 A).
Through CONTINUUM, 37 research teams (including the ERCOS cluster at the ELLIADD laboratory) will conduct cutting-edge research focused on visualization, immersion, interaction, and collaboration, as well as on human perception, cognition, and behavior in virtual and augmented reality.
The CONTINUUM project will create a collaborative research infrastructure consisting of 30 platforms located throughout France.
The ambitious goal is a paradigm shift in how we perceive, interact with, and collaborate on complex digital data by placing people at the center of data processing, an approach that has been integral to the work of the ERCOS Cluster for several years now; the cluster is now recognized nationally and even internationally in this field. The expected benefits in the fields of engineering and design, for example, will enable engineers and designers to change the way they conduct remote project reviews while sharing complex models and simulation results.
For the ERCOS Cluster, this project will enable a significant upgrade of its hardware capabilities in immersive simulations. In addition, it will further strengthen—and even create—new academic and industrial collaborations in the field of immersive technologies.
