There are 20 of them. And they make UTBM proud. Antoine VARRET is an associate professor of mechanical engineering. He brought along 19 students from the “Ergonomics, Design, and Mechanical Engineering” department to work on an exciting project:
Designing an electric-assisted single-wheel wheelchair for the residents of Mas de la Mosaique. It will enable them to go on recreational outings or take walks.
Le Mas de la Mosaique is a facility in Lure. It is a center run by the Arc-en-Ciel Foundation that serves about 40 adults with disabilities.
The wheelchair was presented in the presence of our students, their professor, and the Rotary Club of Pays de Montbéliard, which supported and funded the project.
A wonderful story for future engineers with a “human touch.”
