Master's in Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The Master’s in Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation aims to provide the skills necessary for the success of an innovative project (startup, business acquisition, or intrapreneurship) in an industrial or technological context (IT, mobility, environment, energy, materials, and manufacturing).

Training

The program is designed for students who wish to strengthen their technical background and acquire entrepreneurial, managerial, strategic, and financial skills. This knowledge is directly applied to launching and managing a real-world innovative project.

The program enables graduates to develop a strong awareness of value creation and innovation. It also fosters the qualities of independence, active listening, versatility, agility, and the ability to make strategic decisions.

The program is taught by faculty members who are also researchers and professionals who bring their academic and practical knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovative project management to the classroom.

Students must acquire both a foundation in science and technology and practical knowledge of entrepreneurship and management.

Modules are selected based on each student’s prior academic background and career goals; students choose the following over the course of the year: 6 modules in industrial culture, 6 modules in entrepreneurship and management, and 2 modules in foreign languages.

The M1 program is available asa full-time programora work-study program(professional training contract and apprenticeship).

As part of the undergraduate program, students can participate in an exchange program at a UTBM partner university during the spring semester.

Acquire the technological knowledge necessary to develop a technology project in a specific field (Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Energy, or Industrial Engineering).

Acquire the managerial knowledge necessary to manage the managerial and entrepreneurial aspects of a project in collaboration with the finance, marketing, and legal departments. Students will also be able to analyze a company’s strategic decisions

Leading an innovative entrepreneurial project is the central focus of the first semester and draws on all the courses offered.

Options (For Everyone)

  • Entrepreneurship Challenge (Option 1—2 ECTS): Participate in an entrepreneurship competition
  • Professional Research Project (Option 2 – 4 ECTS): An Introduction to Research Methodology in the Field of Entrepreneurship

Work Placement:

  • 36 ECTS credits for work-study students (1,139 hours of practical training over the course of the year)
  • 30 ECTS credits for students enrolled in the Initial Training program (23 to 26 weeks in the spring semester)

  • Differentiated tuition fees for non-EU students participating in international exchange programs: €3,941

When should you apply?

There is only one start date per year: in SEPTEMBER.
There will be no start date in February 2025 for master’s programs.

For the M1 program:
National timeline for applying through the Mon Master portal – Applications must be submitted between February 25 and March 24, 2025.

For the M2:
Opening: November 15, 2024
Closing: June 30, 2025

In a traditional degree program or a work-study program:

M1: Holders of a technical or scientific bachelor’s degree or equivalent (BAC+3).

M2: Holders of a technical or scientific master’s degree, an engineering degree, or an equivalent degree (BAC+4 or BAC+5).

In continuing education (M2 only):

A bachelor’s degree plus four years of study or a first-year master’s degree, with at least 3 years of professional experience.

Holders of a lower-level degree who can demonstrate at least three years of professional experience, subject to approval by the Academic Committee forthe Validation of Professional Experience (VAP).

Students who wish to participate in a work-study program are responsible for finding their own host company.

  • Carry out a technology- or industry-related project that meets market expectations (from the specifications to the Minimum Viable Product),
  • Design and develop an innovative business model based on a technology-based product or service,
  • Initiate negotiations with the project's stakeholders,
  • Develop a financing plan,
  • Manage a project as part of a multidisciplinary team,
  • Guide and evaluate companies' strategic decisions.

The Master's in Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation aims to prepare students to:
