Ghislain Montavon began his first school year as principal on September 1.
Ghislain Montavon holds a degree in mechanical engineering, which he earned at UTBM in 1991, when the institution was still a branch of UTC. He also holds a Ph.D. in engineering sciences, which he earned in 1995 from the University of Franche-Comté.
Ghislain Montavon began his career in 1993 as a visiting researcher at the State University of New York for 20 months. In 1994, he was appointed assistant professor at the Institute
Polytechnic of Sevenans (Territory of Belfort), before joining UTBM in 1996 as a contract faculty member. In 2005, he was appointed university professor and recruited by the University of Limoges, where he remained for four years before returning to UTBM.
Ghislain Montavon, who earned his HDR in 2002, is currently the deputy director of LERMPS, the Laboratory for Studies and Research on Materials, Processes, and Surfaces, which he directed from 2011 to 2012. From 2012 to 2014, he also served as director of IRTES (Institute for Research on Energy, Transportation, and Society).
