Abstract: This book, with its illuminating array of perspectives, can be seen as a response to the new image of the 21st-century engineer. Engineers are expected to master computer science, mathematics, and the sciences specific to their field. With a focus on performance, they must engage with systemic issues such as sustainability, collaborate with artists, and take into account the societal implications of innovation. Open to anthropology and sociology, their sense of social responsibility places them within a new model of humanism. Schools that embrace creativity and networks of innovative companies could serve as the catalyst for this transformation.
