Belfort, February 2025 – UTBM has taken a major step forward in its commitment to ecological and societal transition with the publication of itsMaster Plan for Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility (SD-DS&RS). This strategic document affirms a clear commitment:to train responsible engineers, to conduct research that supports these transitions, and to make UTBM a model of excellence in sustainability.
A Foundational Commitment for the Future
Recognizing the environmental and social challenges of our time, UTBM places sustainability at the heart of its academic and institutional mission. Itsmaster planis based on solid foundations:
- TheUnited Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
- Planetary boundaries, which identify ecological thresholds that must not be exceeded,
- The “donut” theory, which aims to strike a balance between social well-being and respect for natural resources.
Far from being a mere statement of intent, this strategic plan commitsthe entire university community —students, faculty, researchers, administrative staff, and industry partners—to adopting responsible practices and taking action to build a more sustainable future.
